AVN’s Kerry Riley wants you to love life and live it to the full.
Valentine’s Day isn’t the only kind of love that matters this month – what about falling back in love with YOUR life?
Life can sometimes feel like a never-ending to-do list. You wake up, grind through the day, and crash at night, only to do it all again. But do you remember when you used to feel excited about your goals? About your business? About the little joys in your day?
Did you know your to-do list is never-ending? Once you accept that and move on, I promise life gets better. The goal isn’t to tick off every task – it’s to create a life you actually enjoy living.
So instead of feeling overwhelmed by your to-do list, shift your perspective. Adding things should feel exciting, not exhausting.
Here’s the science-y bit…
When you love your life, your brain and body respond in incredible ways. Your stress levels drop, creativity flows and motivation skyrockets. Your brain releases dopamine and oxytocin – your natural “feel-good” chemicals – making you more productive, more confident and, ultimately, happier. The more you embrace joy, the more your brain rewires itself to seek out positivity.
So, if you’ve lost that spark, here’s your sign to get it back.
3 ways to fall back in love with your life:
1. Reconnect with your “Why”
Think back to when you first started your journey—whether in business, a passion project or a personal goal. What lit you up? What made you say, “YES, this is what I want!”? Write it down. Say it out loud. Remind yourself why you started in the first place.
2. Find joy in the everyday
We’re so focused on big wins that we forget life is happening right now. Pay attention to what’s in front of you and make it count. Light that fancy candle, drink your coffee slowly, play your favourite song while you work. Turn your daily routine into something that feels special. You don’t need to wait for a specific day to pamper yourself!
3. Shake things up!
Sometimes, we fall out of love with life because we’re stuck in a loop. So change your environment, try something new, take a break, or even say no to things that drain you. You don’t have to make huge changes—just a little shift can reignite your passion. Your brain loves novelty, and even small shifts in your routine can boost happiness. Stepping outside your routine builds new neural pathways, making you feel more engaged and energised.
Feeling stuck? Take a deep breath and ask yourself: What’s one small thing I can do today that makes me happy? Then go do it.
Let’s make February the month we fall back in love with our dreams, our routines and ourselves.
Small steps create big changes – start today!
